I'm 14 is it too late for me to play the guitar?

I've heard lots of people say they learne the guitar at like, 9 and 10, a little older soemtimes. I wnat to be able toplay the guitar and make-up my own songs, but id it too late for me to be really good at it? also, do you have to be able to playt eh guitar to make it as a big singer? thanx :)
