My 85 caprice clic is stalling out?

I got a 85 caprice clic and ran fine when i got it at the junk yard (derby car) and now when i start it and try to move it , it putts and stalls. somedays the motor sounds fine other days it sputters and when it stalls and i try to start it if it will at all it does the same thing. What could it be?
