As a member of the Hindu family of religion imagine my surprise when .......?

I have studied Islam intensly, and have NEVER heard or seen this. As far as my research goes, ONLY "people of the book", meaning jews, christians, zoroastrians are allowed to pay Jizyah and keep their religion. All other religions (or lack of) do not have the opportunitey to pay Jizyah, they must either convert to Islam, or they are to be treated as a prisoner of war and can be executed. I call BS.
