A duck knocked on my door (literally)?

This morning a male and a female mallard duck waddled up to my front porched and pecked/knocked on my door. I was wondering if there is any reason for this, any symbolic implications/meanings or any funny jokes about this. Also, has anyone else had this happen to them? It was seriously like a gentleman duck and his wife visited my house!
